Nostalgia & History > Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flagsDate: 03/15/18 12:45 Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flags Author: Roadjob I was fortunate enough to be on the property of every railroad in this video. My favorites were B&O, EL, WM, SP, and Rio Grande.

in the background. Date: 03/15/18 23:46 Re: Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flags Author: YukonYeti Very well done... looking forward to a sequel. (Better than Starwars.)
YY Date: 03/16/18 03:03 Re: Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flags Author: Roadjob PRR is in there but I did forget to actually put Conrail itself in. LOL! I did see DT&I, but I only put railroads where I actually went on the property and took pictures. Unfortunately I never got on the other roads you mentioned.
Date: 03/16/18 03:06 Re: Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flags Author: Roadjob Scanning the thousands of negatives that I have in the past year, there will probably be some more that are backwards. Better than C&NW itself...it is dead!
Date: 03/16/18 08:42 Re: Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flags Author: ntharalson I think we need a little clarification here. The Soo Line shot, while on what is now CN, is
not correct. Soo went to CP. If you are talking about the location of the shot, then it would be Orginial WC, to Soo, to new WC, to CN. The Milwaukee shot should read; To Soo, to CP. If, in fact, it is abandonded trackage, you should note that. Rather than "Abandoned" for the Rock Island, I would say Dismembered as the trackage you picture is in service, I believe CSX ownership with IAIS rights. Interesting shots, thanks for posting. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 03/16/18 11:39 Re: Railroads of the past... a salute to many fallen flags Author: Roadjob Correct on the CP. Forty years later, I'm just drawing on a now faltering memory, LOL! Whatever it was, and wherever these were taken, I have to say that I am happy to have been an active railfan when I was. Too sterile and impersonal for me these days. Never cared much for shortlines or regionals when there was a multitude of Class 1 railroads to choose from.
