Bringing Back The SP - Tom Hallendorf Films 1966, The End!
Author: FiveChime

Two and a half hours of Tom Hallendorf 1960's movies in six minute doses ends here with the Coast Daylight
and Del Monte passing in San Jose and random coverage at Taylor Yard in Los Angeles. Hard to believe the movies
were taken over 50 years ago. I hope those of you that were around then have appreciated the memories, and perhaps
some of you younger folks have enjoyed seeing how it was on the old southern Pacific.

I'd like to thank my life long friend, Tom Hallendorf for allowing me to share these old films, and my younger friend
Raphael Moll, for helping me with the computer program used to transfer the material from DVD to Train Orders.

Regards, Jim Evans

Jim,

For those of us that grew up along the Coast Line (but were born a little too late) have appreciated all of these videos, especially the ones containing the Del Monte!

Remarkable movies that bring back the images of that time. I was fortunate enough to live in the Bay Area at that time. Thank you for bringing back fond memories.

These are great clips of Bayshore and elsewhere just as I remember them. I just missed the steam era, except for the Bayshore A yard scraplines, but I remember the interesting variety of GPs, Alcos, SDs and even the KMs.

Thanks again for the priceless memories.

While I love the vintage insights into the SP operations, I like the quality of the classical music attached to the the videos too.
Thank you for providing us with so much to see and hear.

Thanks to Jim and Raphael for the work involved in putting these movies on line. And thanks to all T/O members for their kind words; like I said earlier, I wish I had a tripod back then and more film...!
