1) This is the last run of the Florida Special that Amtrak operated, southbound at Alexandria in April 1972. The Florida Special was a seasonal train NY-Miami (winter season) that had run for years under ACL, SCL and then Amtrak. In the background is the old RF&P freighthouse and RF&P camp cars. This space is now occupied by Metro's King St Station. 2) Southbound freight at Van Dorn Street in Alexandria led by 2 FP-7s in May 1972. 3) Southbound Silver Star at Van Dorn Street, with a newly-painted Amtrak E8 in the lashup in May 1972.
