I'm wondering if this isn't a little above Valentine, AZ, at the exit of Crozier Canyon. I suppose
Valentine would be an acceptable reference, but isn't the eyeblink wide spot in the road a couple
of miles south of here??

You are correct. Valentine is a few miles behind the photographer. This is where the tracks curve away from route 66 and go through Crozier Canyon. It's actually labeled Crozier on Google maps. I believe of our TO members parents live in a house behind the lone white tank car in photo 2.
