B&O heavyweight baggage car -- Dec 80
Author: gcm

This is a rescan of a B&O heavyweight baggage car still in passenger paint near Kent,Ohio along the old B&O.
The small door at the far end is unusual in baggage cars I've seen.

baggage & mail with a 15' RPO compartment.

Perhaps class E-7c built by AC&F between 1926 and 1929.
Looks like they were in the not exclusive number range from 272 - 296.

This shows that as late as 1980 there were still some treasures sitting on quiet sidings.

Great photo of a Railway Express car.
Kent was the home of much of my early railfanning from the late 1960's to early 1970's, but I don't recall it being there then.

I recall a newspaper article many years ago about someone finding a mail car that had been sitting on a B&O siding for 10 years or so that was full of mail.  Gerry
