Nostalgia & History > Two Georgia Railroad Trains -- Rick BurnDate: 07/19/18 23:18 Two Georgia Railroad Trains -- Rick Burn Author: MartyBernard 4 photos of GA 1033 leading at Decatur, GA in April 1963.
2 photos of GA Train #2 with West Point Route #502 in charge at Atlanta, GA in October 1967. Enjoy, Marty Bernard Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/19/18 23:21 by MartyBernard. Photo 3 shows the switch where the Georgia became 2MT (directional running) between Decatur and downtown Atlanta. I don't remember when the second main track was lifted, perhaps in the mid-late 1970s. Besides the railroad, photo 5 captures Atlanta banking as it once was... the then-new tower of the First National Bank of Atlanta and the offices of Fulton National Bank and the Bank of Georgia. The banking industry has seen the same kind of consolidation as railroads.
