Nostalgia & History > Need a water car?Date: 08/10/18 13:42 Need a water car? Author: tomstp The advent of pipe lines meant that several railroads had many tank cars not being used for oil shipment anymore that were in good condition. So they were converted to many different uses. Among those were water cars to be used in all types of water service, even cottonseed oil. Attached are some of the conversions. Here are some T&P examples.

The Santa Fe had quite a few of these tank cars used as water cars in work service up to the 70's-80's. I was fascinated by them since they were so ancient - built in the teens. Gary |
