Just patch 'em up, we're in a hurry!

 Out with the old owner and in with the new---here's a few quick repaints...

1. GTW 6413 Chicago, IL 10-25-87

2. CCP 8032 Cicero, IL March 86

3. CCP 8181 Cicero, IL July 86

The Soo "Bandits" must have run OK because some hung around for decades, but they sure looked like crap. Probably extra-hard to tolerate among Milwaukee fans :-(

I can't recall seeing a good "patch" job as these show. The two SOO ex-MILW patches are truely ugly.

I agree.

However, the Soo 1401 looks very nice!

Yes, it was extremely sad for me to see the poor job of patching the SOO did on the ex-MILW units.  The Soo of the 1960s through early 80s that I grew up with always had good looking locomotives, but to just put a big black square of paint on the MILW units was pretty poor.  They could have at least used orange with black lettering - it would have looked WAY better.  I also noticed that the appearance of the SOO units in the mid-1980s started to go down hill as well.

One funny thing was that the black patches started to fade away over the years and the MILWAUKEE ROAD lettering started showing through again.

At least I had moved out of the Milwaukee area by that time and didn't have to see it every day.
