Nostalgia & History > One more Lehigh Valley before ConrailDate: 09/24/18 15:50 One more Lehigh Valley before Conrail Author: bobdavis Shortly before the Lehigh Valley was folded into Conrail, eastbound LV-2 crosses the icy Lehigh River at White Haven, PA on a cloudy, cold February 28, 1976. Three GP38's and a GP18 lead the 95 car consist that included 22 TOFC/COFC. LV-2 was one of four LV freights we saw that day - not exactly the PRR Middle Division, but not bad for the LV.

And, ironically,GP38AC 312 is active in the Norfolk Southern stable today but rebuilt into a GP38-2 in early 2006.

Glad you made the effort to walk down onto the riverbank in such conditions, the result was worth it. You did well in getting four LV trains. From what I hear, sometimes there were only two or three during daylight on those short winter days.
