Nostalgia & History > B&M Mechanicville, NY May 1975Date: 11/17/18 11:46 B&M Mechanicville, NY May 1975 Author: thebluecomet On Sunday May 25, 1975 I spent the day around the twin yards (D&H, B&M) at Mechanicville, NY. Essentially the D&H yard was for westbound traffic and the B&M for easbounds. At the east end of both yards, the B&M crossed the D&H line heading south toward Albany at XO tower. These images follow up on my post of several days ago.
Pic#1. I wasn't able to get ahead of the westbound NE-87 shown crossing the Hudson River in the earlier post. Here the power comes east out of the D&H yard and then heads west into the B&M yard to be serviced. Pic#2. GP38 209 is the lead unit for train MB-2 moving toward their train. Pic#3. After awhile MB-2 pulls east over the diamonds. Date: 11/17/18 11:52 Re: B&M Mechanicville, NY May 1975 Author: thebluecomet Pic#4. A quick dash across the Hudson River and MB-2 is climbing the grade away from the river crossing.
Pic#5 & 6. A little later a pair of GP-7's still in red colors work a cut of cars as a set of power with a PC U-Boat moves in the yard. I will post more from this yard on different days soon. One small nit - the 1500 series EMDs are GP7s. In addition to road numbers, spotting features are the maroon paint scheme and commuter train lighting equipment housed in the square compartment at the end of the long hood.
