1. A 4-4-2 with a Hiawatha passing the West Milwaukee engine terminal. Lots to see in this picture.

2. A Milwaukee Road commuter train approaching Chicago Union Station.  Note the CTA 4000 series L cars on the Lake Street Bridge over the South Branch of the Chicago River.

3. Even the little-used Prairie-type locomotive were handling way freights.  As with many of these, no date or location is given on the slide mount.

4. No title, must be Milwaukee. 35-A was a FTA built July 1945.

5. Prairie 903, Main Street, Elm Grove, WI.

6. Prairie 919, no location or date.    Same locomotive and location as in Photo 3.

Given the technology of the time, great photos. I'm sure they were dealing with ASA10 film at best. Of course, every subject around them would be extraordinary to us!

No. 2 is also interesting in that there are only two tracks on the curve, and Canal Street is protected only by a crossbuck.  But these are all extraordinary.
