To understand these, please read the introduction to Part 1. These are A. C. Kalmbach's photos from Rick Burn's collection.  The captions are from the slide mounts with some technical or clarification information added.

1. A Pacific with the Cannonball near Pewaukee, WI, no date.

2. Among the world's fastest locomotives, these Hiawatha 4-4-2s regularly did better that 100-miles an hour. Taken at the downtown Milwaukee Station.

3. Looking down upon the storage tracks in Milwaukee, WI.

4. Lots of steam power in this April 1955 photo, but no signs of live steam.

5. Perhaps symbolic is this 1954 Sturtevant, WI scene of diesel power passing up steam in a siding,

6. F-7 103, one of six, shown in scrap line, no location or date, unknown person.  EDIT: He's  David P. Morgan.

Strange to see the Soo Line unit in photo #3 at MILW's engine terminal. 

I'm pretty sure that Photo #6 was taken in Milwaukee.

Interesting shot. Look at the 2nd E7, the fuel tank skirting has been removed. This (1954) is the earliest photo I can remember showing that modification. I know that GN began that process around 1955, but was unaware that MILW seems to have begun earlier.
