Sometimes... - PRR
Author: refarkas

Sometimes you get permission to take photos but are told "Don't climb on the engines". Here is PRR 6976 (Baldwin AS616)on the PC scrapline in East Altoona, Pennsylvania during early Penn Central (most likely 1969 or 1970). The urge to close doors was great, but the warning prevailed. Pictures were taken, but we did not close doors or climb on the locomotives.

Late model AS616 -- what a beast! Appears to have two cab signal control boxes?

What am I looking at that is at the roofline just above and a bit to the left of the headlight on the end of the unit?

By the late 1960's, Baldwins were fading fast from the railroad scene.
Thanks for following the rules and getting this nice roster photo.

Looks like the leftover pieces of the PRR's trainphone.
