Nostalgia & History > The usual 70's Santa Fe lashup at CleburneDate: 12/15/18 12:39 The usual 70's Santa Fe lashup at Cleburne Author: gcm At the time (May 76) this was the type of engine lashups that could be seen on the Santa Fe Southern Division. A mixture of mostly older power with some newer ones (actually most of the time it was old units).
These engines had just arrived at the Santa Fe shops/yard in Cleburne,Tx from the south. After dropping off the cars, the units came back out along the main to head in to the yard for servicing. (1) 3615 and 3633 were a couple of fairly new GP39-2 units two years old or less. (2) U23B 6321 and CF7 2580 were in the mix. 2580 had been rebuilt and released from the Cleburne shops in 1973. (3) An F7 cab another CF7 and a couple of GP7 engines round out the consist. Gary Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/15/18 12:41 by gcm. I saw and shot it in Kansas City many times. What is BNSF using today? Not as interesting, of course, is the reality.

Bob Date: 12/15/18 13:38 Re: The usual 70's Santa Fe lashup at Cleburne Author: Txtrainman43 I've stood in that very spot countless times and never recall seeing a consist with a single F cab unit in one!

It's pretty unusual to see unrebuilt Santa Fe first and second generation power in the same consist (the CF7's were rebuilt, of course, but the F7 and the geeps were not). Were they all MUed, or was this two different power sets with the break coming between the U23B and the first CF7? |
