1. CRI&P GP7 434 (built in 1950) at Division Street Tower in St. Paul, MN on June 20, 1964.  The tower is the first one east of St. Paul Union Depot, the farthest north on the Joint Line.

2. CRI&P RS-2 451 (built in 1948 and reengined by EMD) in Joliet, IL on September 1, 1969.

3. CRI&P RS-3 493 in Chicago, IL at 89th and Vincennes on December 31, 1964.  This outbound commuter train is turning on to the Beverly Branch from the mainline.  Those were the B&OCT tracks in the foreground.

NIce photos.
451 is eastbound on rthe elevation at Joliet Union Station with the Rockdale switch job returning to the yard on the east side of town.
453 is rounding the curve at Gresham Junction heading for the Beverley Branch as you indicated. The junction tower was off to the right of this photo. It also controlled heading over to the Rock's South Chicago yard too.

The re engined RS-2 is a fascinating looking beast! Great series of shots. I especially like the commuter train with the RS unit.

Great pictures, thanks for posting.
The two pictures at Gresham look like they were taken from the little hill
created by leftover construction dirt.  It was quite popular with young bicyclists, there being
few hills in Chicago.

One minor point.  The tracks in the foreground were owned by the RI but mainly used
by B&O / C&O trains.

The street in picture 4 is Morgan St.  Sangamon dead ends at 88th St.  Grandma lived in the 8700 block of
Sangamon.  I was working extra at Gresham when the bridge gang was driving some new piles for Morgan St.
