A set of train orders assembled 38 years ago today at Nahant, IA, addressed to MILW 148 East for the trip up to Clinton on the DRI line.

At Clinton, a new set of orders will be issued to get to Savanna.

The DRI&NW, of course was a jointly owned MILW-CB&Q line that lasted up until around the time IMRL operations started. 

The Rock Island also had trackage rights on this line, after their own line to Clinton was pulled up in 1940. 

The CB&Q and RI shared the station across the tracks and down from the C&NW station in town.

RDA was the late Dick Awe. He was the Chief DS at Ottumwa. When Ottumwa closed in 1984 he went to Chicago, then Milwaukee, then went to the IMRL and later ICE as their Chief Transportation officer. Every Milwaukee employee had nothing but good words about Dick. He knew the territory like the back of his hand. Sadly Dick passed away a few years ago. Thank you for sharing

When I first started collecting train orders, the DRI Chief Dispatcher was BAW - Berniece A Williams I think.  Apparently she retired and the DRI was added to RDA's territory
