Any one else like NS "Hammerheads"?
Author: jgilmore

Nothing was quite so ominous or fierce looking coming down the rails than a pair of black C39-8s running long hood-forward, aka the "Hammerheads"!
Here's a pair on a loaded DE coal train southeast of Toledo on the ex-WLE, and headed for Monroe, MI. Typical hazy Ohio summer day in 1987. JG

I liked them.  The LHF visability was actually pretty good for your block and fixed signals.  The good sized side windows helped.  You felt like somebody running LHF.  The cramped throttlestand and blowing smoke make it feel like the old days.

I bought a ScaleTrains C39-8 recently and haven't run it that way yet... I should really do it at some point...

Nice image, thanks for sharing...
