Four stars !
Thanks for sharing this superb action slide of one of the greatest passenger trains of all time. Date: 01/16/19 04:31 Re: WP CZ at Franklin, California Author: DavidP Nice view...any idea what year? You’re very likely right about it being summer judging from the expanded consist. Foreign road sleepers tended to appear in the summer, although this is the first picture I remember seeing of such cars being placed ahead of the coaches. Presumably this was done to keep the PA system cabling intact. In other photos I’ve seen normal practice seemed to have non-CZ sleepers ahead of the tail car, so it would be the only CZ car without PA connection.

If added coaches were put on, they were placed ahead of the domes. Hence when the "Flat Top" coaches were added, that's where they went. Also when WP added the business car 101 it was also placed behind the baggage and ahead of the domes. Date: 01/17/19 17:47 Re: WP CZ at Franklin, California Author: DavidP TomG Wrote:

It looks like the first two cars behind the baggage car are sleepers though. Dave Date: 01/17/19 17:55 Re: WP CZ at Franklin, California Author: TomG You got better eyes than me. lol Beautiful photo. For every person that thinks the SF warbonnet is the best looking paint out there, I disagree. WP F's on the CZ, Beautiful!
