Hamilton Branch memory
Author: Mr-Beechcroft

I lived in Orland from 1985 until 2001 so I was able to shoot the West Valley Local quite a bit...but still not enough.
This is a train of sugar beets crossing the canal just northwest of Hamilton City.

A first-class image. All those beet gondolas, the failed-merger paint scheme Geep, and the bridge make this all the better.

That's a truly excellent shot, line doesn't have too many scenic spots.

I remember being there also. I sure miss chasing the beet trains, as well as watching them switch in Ham. City.

Wow, perfect to get the geep on the point in a very scenic location for that line. Well done more if you have it!

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the image and the memory.
Can you close in a little on the date or even year that you made this exposure?

Thanks for the date, it time-stamps the original lights on the 4800, the new lights on the Kodachrome, and the still-running beets.

January 8, 2019.  Just before the arrival of the CFNR 1569. The signal maintainer was testing his new 'toy'.  The signal can now be activated from the cab by a radio 'dial up' of four tones.

Nice image, Adam.  Thanks for posting.
