Santa Fe the "Beep" #1460 at CleburneTx -- July 79
Author: gcm

Originally a Baldwin V0-1000 built in 1943, Santa Fe completely rebuilt it (one of a kind) at the Cleburne,Tx shops in 1970.
It continued working in to the BNSF era and was retired in 2012.
Luckily it was saved and is at the  Western America Railroad Museum in Barstow,Ca.
Here it is working some cars from the yard at Cleburne in front of the Santa Fe station.
I read where the "Beep" came from a blend of  "Baldwin Geep".

Nice photos of when it was working.  Here is a Barstow shot from 2017.

I guess you can say it was saved there in Barstow. No protection at all and the metal thieves got to it big time.

Before I read the text, I was trying to wrap my head around what it was.  On one end it looked like EMD, and on the other Balwin.

That "Beep" was really an interesting scratch build.
Thanks for posting your interesting photos.

Cleburne had a couple of strange looking switchers over time.  They all seemed to work well.

Would that make this the last operating Santa Fe unit (then on BNSF) in the ATSF pinstripe scheme?

To my knowledge yes.
