KCRW,

SP units are on Oregon California and Eastern train to Bly Oregon. BN 2200 is headed south to inside gateway and the WP. 4011 is switching south end of BN Klamath yard.

That's a great video and I was sure happy to see the SP 3909.  That was the first unit I got a cab ride in.

Looks like Klamath Falls, Oregon. First is SP SD9's on the OC&E. GN and SP alternated operation of this lumber railroad running east to Bly and points beyond. Later, the lumber company brought in their
own motive power to run the railroad. Looks like later seen is southbound Inside Gateway train with early BN mix of units. C-415 looks to be switching K Falls BN Yard.

Agree, that was when Klamath Falls really was a hot spot. The footage on the OC&E is pretty rare stuff. SP and GN/BN traded operations every five years.

Wow thanks for posting this! I would say this is from about 1973 as the GN/BN was running the OC&E from 68-72. The SP ran it from that point until Weyerhaeuser bought it in 1975. The OC&E train is first seen at Pine Grove, where there were a couple spur tracks and is now a trailhead. The second shot is going over highway 140. It’s at the bottom of a sag so as you can see in the video they would really have them wound up at that point. The BN train is departing for Bieber going over Altamont Street and the final scenes looks like they are weighing cars at first. These were shot at the south end of the yard.

Of note in the consist of BN 2200 departing the yard heading south to Bieber and the WP, the fourth unit appears to be a C&S SD40 painted in parent CB&Q's Chinese Red. This is a great video. Thanks for sharing!

Hard saying for K Falls. 

The two railroads shared crews on yard & local stuff. So many months or years for SP and so many for BN. This was around K Falls.  The jobs that went north past Chemult were worked by SP crews and of course BN crews worked their own rails to Bend. There were other stops along the way ( K Falls to Chemult) and I think they were switched by who had the contract.

In the shot of the BN GP-30 sequence, he pans back in foam-mode to the Chinese Red “Q” units and then back to the crossing
again where a car has just cleared.
Check it out— it looks like he could’ve caught that car right in front of the engines in a near miss.
Anyway, great look back to a forever gone scene...
And, if the poster doesn’t know, the scene w/ the Espee Cadillacs on the OC&E?!? It’s all gone — even the RR...

Along with the C&S SD40 is the Q SD45 in as delivered hockey stick paint.
I can hear those two SD9s singing from here:)
