Nostalgia & History > A couple Amtrak cars at NOUPT -- May 78Date: 01/23/19 04:38 A couple Amtrak cars at NOUPT -- May 78 Author: gcm At New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal
(1) 4858 was a 1953 Budd built coach for the Santa Fe. It was being used on the Panama Limited. (2) Looks like 8400 was retired and probably for sale. It was a little unusual - a coach-diner built for the GN in 1950 by ACF for the International trains. Then, he up and got married so that was the end of that project, at least for now....

We got a tour of it about 10 years ago while it was in the shop. Date: 01/23/19 08:09 Re: A couple Amtrak cars at NOUPT -- May 78 Author: Topfuel MILW16 Wrote:

Yes, that's the car. But it wasn't being worked on by the museum people. The owner had an arrangement to store it there and he could also work on it as well. Edited 1 time(s). She's a real throwback to her younger days in spite of her Amtrak makeup.
