https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4628214,4628214#msg-4628214 (No, apparently not-- no center siding in the pic.) Looks like he's on the 1-80 overpass just west of Sinclair and the train is eastward. https://goo.gl/maps/jzcWDS7twzL2 Did UP not have 1/4 - 1/2 - 3/4 milepost poles then? The Google pic has a three-band pole in the foreground. Edited 9 time(s). Last edit at 01/23/19 16:10 by timz. Date: 01/23/19 16:22 Re: UP Turbine #8 Author: Tominde I'm an easterner. How did engine crews feel about these compared to conventional diesels?

From what I've heard, they were fine except for the operational quirks (start-up procedure, etc) because they were unconventional. If you're asking about noise, they weren't bad at all. This batch of turbines wasn't noisy and didn't vibrate much - the turbine was back in the second unit with exhaust directed up and to the rear, away from the lead unit. Diesels and the first-gen. turbines were louder in their cabs than these were. Also, nice job "timz" for coming up with the exact location and direction. Take care, Mark Date: 01/24/19 06:11 Re: UP Turbine #8 Author: texchief1 Nice shot!
