Love those oscillating headlight attention grabbers! And the timing of that train popping out of the tunnel is classic! Either some very well-done prep work or sheer luck... or both.

The shot of the north bound streamliner entering the tunnel appears to be the Lark, which would date these shots around 1968. The second car on that train appears to be an RPO which is a mystery for this year.

Prior to November 1967 has it still had a RPO

RPO were also used a baggage cars, after the mail came off.

They were among the newest cars and had the facilites to support the train baggage man.

Thiis was a treasure to see; I did not know the de-fluted cars had their roofs painted white, at least it appears so here. Fascinating film.

Me too. I think that first shot is around Pittsburg. Second shot looks like between Brentwood and Tracy, but could be after Tracy (would have been hard to get ahead of the train again before Tracy).
