Hey Dad-Let's see what's happening Portland,OR Albina 1971

Just thought I would generate a little video today from my fathers Regular 8mm collection-Not the best, but here we go-Most likely on a weekend while we lived in nearby Milwaukie, OR. Moments like this as a child is why I'm still a rail fan to this day--As a side note, in the background there is the construction of the Fremont bridge.

GREAT posting nephew!!!!!!   Neat to see both you and your brother Scott in the photos.....yes Albina and us have changed some in the ensuring 48 years.......and we both can "credit" our fathers for getting us interested in this stuff......I think brother John's vido is just fine.     Arlen

What year did they paint the enginehouse the cream color over the original brick?   

I also see the washrack present which I recall seeing in operation into at least the late 70's.   When was that taken out of operation?   

They were stil building the Fremont Bridge in this photo but other than that, the place looks very similar to this day thankfully and is just as busy.

DDA40X unit 6916 seen in the video is still with us.  She is part of the locomotives on display near the Ogden UT depot.   She may be the only one of the units present that hasn't gone to to scrap by now.
