Nostalgia & History > Maroon Monday: A touch o' yellow & grayDate: 02/11/19 08:51 Maroon Monday: A touch o' yellow & gray Author: santafe199 No maroon color to be seen here, but it’s a Rock Island train on Rock Island trackage near a well-known Rock Island location! A couple of years after Jim Watson took this shot, Rock Island acquired their brand-new blue & white The ROCK GP38s with individual names or slogans under the cab windows. GP38 #4306 was assigned the name “City of Atlantic”.
I guess 3 outta 4 ain’t bad for Maroon Monday… 1. UP 488 leads an all-UP consist on a Rock Island train near Atlantic, IA on April 16, 1974. Original Kodachrome slide by James W. Watson Thanks for looking back! Lance Garrels (santafe199) Jim Watson (UP6900) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/20/22 21:07 by santafe199.
