Nostalgia & History > Frisco local working in Augusta,Ks -- June 77Date: 03/15/19 06:18 Frisco local working in Augusta,Ks -- June 77 Author: gcm Frisco GP38-2 477 and a few GP7 units are working in Augusta,Ks on the line to Wichita.
When their work in town was finished, the crew was kind enough to give me a cab ride to Wichita. Sad now that this line (and of course the Frisco) are all gone. Sadly, I have to echo Ray's sentiment. I chased that local, train #337 I believe, only one time: from Augusta into Wichita. And it was with really crummy overcast weather. I was was always "gonna down and chase" that line between Cherryvale and Wichita, but never did. Thanks for posting, Gary! Your adventures around Kansas are always welcome. All ever saw in person and have seen in photos is like what we see here where the tape has faded to where you can barely see it if it hasn't actually torn off. I think it would have been a nice addition to their scheme so too bad it didn't work out for them.
