D&RGW & The Flatirons ... a different perspective

I've posted a number of pics from the Boulder CO area that have the spectacular Flatirons in the background of a train shot, but here's a view from a different angle that shows how impressive they are ... and with a train (surprise!) again. Took this shot a while ago ... Nov. 15, 1969 near Plainview. The trains passing through this here have changed .... the Flatirons, on the other hand, have looked the same for a long, long time.

There is a certain beauty about this photo. Perhaps it is the lighting, but this image just seems so peaceful as it is, yet there is the anticipation of the peace being shattered by the passing train.

That was such a classy paint scheme. I watched a lot of trains through and around there when I lived in Arvada and Boulder.
