Depot Friday: Rainy night in Topeka
Author: santafe199

The UP depot in Topeka, KS looks like it always has. Sorta. It’s got the same general architecture as it always has. But it’s the surrounding area that has gone through the changes. Once the center of operation in Topeka, now-a-days Uncle Pete no longer has a presence in his grand old building. It’s now called the “Great Overland Station”. And it houses a museum & meeting rooms.

Thanks for looking back!

My more or less suprise retirement party was held there in the east end of the depot building, organized by my wife and family. Over a hundred people were there, with catered food and plenty to drink. I found out about it that morning, Dec. 3rd, 2010. A niece was married there before that. Good memories in that beautiful place.
