RJ Corman purchased the SBD (ex-L&N) Bardstown Branch on Jan 1, 1987. They set about literally transforming the branch line. The physical plant was improved. Freight traffic increased. In the autumn of 1988, they started a dinner train operation that is still running.
After a little over two years of Corman ownership, on March 24, 1989 I visited Corman’s enginehouse in Bardstown. There I found RJCR #9004 & Caboose awaiting the call. Note the stone depot visible to the left that is still utilized by the dinner train.
