Nostalgia & History > Conrail UMP unit coalDate: 03/25/19 04:42 Conrail UMP unit coal Author: WM_1109 In the 1987/88 timeframe, Conrail ran a UMP-2 unit coal train (PEPX hoppers) for the PEPCO (Potomac Electric) Morgantown Generating Station at Newburg, MD. The empties returned as UMP-1, routed via (I think) the Buffalo Line. Question is: where did the loads origniate/where did the empties destinate? Clearfield?
Thanks for any insight. -Ted Date: 03/25/19 21:09 Re: Conrail UMP unit coal Author: perklocal Some UMPs originated in Clearfield and I know I had seen a few originate out of South Fork.

The slide (which I haven't yet scanned) I'm trying to identify is of empties northbound on the Buffalo Line out of Harrisburg, so I guess it's safe to assume Clearfield in this instance.
