Open cab door--skip the shot?
Author: jgilmore

Like a lot of fans, I generally don't like taking shots with an open door on the lead unit, and back in the day I would often give such a train a pass and wait for the next one. Why I don't know because it shouldn't matter at all, but I did take a few pics with open cab doors back in the day and feel they don't look so bad through the lens of time. What's your view? JG

1) Westbound CR RR-281 is passing through Sheridan, PA, on the Harrisburg Line.
2) Stack train TV-204 is EB at Blandon, PA, on the Reading Line.
3) Manifest ALPI is meeting a coal load at Altoona.

It's all part of railroading.

The way I see it, I’m there to take pictures of the train that is there — not the train I might wish was there.

I have a lot of EL E8's with the nose door open on Train 57 from 1973-1974. I'm very pleased that I took those shots.

I'm sure you're happy you took the Conrail shots too...

Probably had to "air out" the latrines.
