Old Orange Alcos at Rest in 1977

The F7s were in town (Stockton) but I didn't overlook these guys.  Picture one led by an S2 and picture two, an S4.

Good heavens - were those still operating at the time of the photo?  Makes the Rock Island and Milwaukee Road look modern!

I think they were, if not retired, at least stored.  But I do remember they weren't running.

A few years later one of the big stops on the Valley roster shooting 'tour' was the Stockton Terminal and Eastern with their Alco fleet.

Not knowing my WP history, were the WP Alco switchers simply sold to their ST&E neighbors?
