Nostalgia & History > PRR Work Train CarsDate: 05/16/19 03:10 PRR Work Train Cars Author: refarkas It is a foggy morning in Barberton, Ohio in 1967 or 1968, and a string of Pennsylvania Railroad work train cars sit in the Akron and Barberton Belt yard.

(Of course, I never had to work ot live in them.) The second car from the left is my favorite here. Looks like it was an old solarium lounge car who's glory days on the varnish were long gone.
John Date: 05/16/19 05:43 Re: PRR Work Train Cars Author: gcm A great railroad scene.
Those heavyweight cars are a nice find. To think those types of cars survived in work service (especially on the Santa Fe) for another +-20 years. Gary Date: 05/16/19 05:43 Re: PRR Work Train Cars Author: boejoe Bob, do you remember if they were painted yellow or still in former gray color?
Date: 05/16/19 06:41 Re: PRR Work Train Cars Author: refarkas I wish I remembered the color. I want to say they were yellow, but I'm not certain.
Bob Date: 05/16/19 09:22 Re: PRR Work Train Cars Author: Westbound Very thoughtful photo. Makes you want to walk around and explore within that scene. Although the work train looks old and tired, I’ll bet the interior is relatively clean and ready for service since it could be needed for use with little, if any, time for prep.
