Nostalgia & History > Here's a Thirty ThursdayDate: 07/11/19 16:28 Here's a Thirty Thursday Author: Bob3985 I was searching for this photo for a gentleman with the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City Nevada.
He wanted a copy of the photo I had taken back in the late 1980's in Denver Colorado of UP 844 GP30 with UP 8444 FEF-3. They have the GP30 on display there at their museum. So here are the two at 36th Street yard. What's even more interesting is that the steam engine outlasted the diesel, which was built to replace steam in the first place. That's cool!!

First UP 800 on the Rock Island in South Chicago Yard. Second is UP 712B at an unknown location. Third is the final resting place for the GP-30B's before going off to scrap/trade in. This was at South Diesel in North Platte. For those not in the know, as the late great Johnny Winter song title says, The UP 844 is "Still Alive and Well" at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City. http://www.nevadasouthern.com/equipment/locomotive-855 Date: 07/12/19 06:40 Re: And one more Author: hotrail Wow that 3282 looks sharp in the old, pre-yellow bonnet freight scheme.
