Three Penn Central EMD GP9's (7002, 7023 & 7099) are stopped and will shove back momentarily.

Those are cinders (side of hill) left over from the days of PRR steam. There were piles of cinders everywhere along this part of the ex-PRR.
And that cast iron Keystone shaped "W" whistle sign helps attest that the PRR was indeed, "The Standard Railroad of the World".

I remember being ankle-deep in cinders along the N&W while chasing the NRHS trips out of Roanoke in what, 1987?
