.And the only reason it's still here is because the SP converted it to a camera car to shoot video
for the simulator.

Not even video. They shot movies using film.

Movie film certainly qualifies as video.

Had to look that one up in case something obvious had changed while I was sleeping, I don't see that film and video are the same thing, watching the modern product would be a video but not at the time it was being made:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/video

videonoun
vid·eo | \ ˈvi-dē-ˌō \ Definition of video (Entry 1 of 2)
1 : videotape: such as a : a recording of a motion picture or television program for playing through a television set b : a videotaped performance of a song often featuring an interpretation of the lyrics through visual images

2 : a digital recording of an image or set of images (such as a movie or animation) 3 : television also : the visual portion of television

videoadjective
Definition of video (Entry 2 of 2)
1 : being, relating to, or used in the transmission or reception of the television image a video channel — compare audio

2 : being, relating to, or involving images on a television screen or computer display a video terminal

btw there's also some background info in the Model building community where they are looking to find the sound of the SP units. The single existing unit is missing the second engine and also has a unique exhaust configuration, when they find a similar two engine design it simply sounds different. The engine and the concept of the locomotive can be found but not in the same situation as the SP units.

Jeez, I'm sorry, I should have said that the SP converted the unit to shoot film for the simulator. I'm also sorry
for being old school in my  terms, if it sits still it's film if it move it's video, anything else I can apolgize for?

If it's recorded on film, it's film. Film would have to be converted to another medium to be a Video. Watching a movie with a projector would not be watching a Video. Watching the same movie with magnetic tape would be watching a Video. At least it was before I went to sleep last night.

There were 16 similar-looking KM hood units built for EFVM in Brazil, see http://sp9010.ncry.org/brazil.htm .  They have reportedly all been scrapped, too.

There is an excellent book about the Krauss-Maffei diesel hydrualic locomotives "Southern Pacific and the KM Hydraulics."  It covers the six original cab units built for the SP and D&RGW, the fifteen SP production units, the unit build for Brazil, the "Alco-Haulics", and a proposed four axle 2000hp single prime mover version.

According to our contacts in Brazil, they were all scrapped leaving the 9010 as the only ML4000C'C'.

Which is the reason that Howard had to remanufacture from scratch many of the missing body parts.  This is also why this restoration stands out as being the most unique diesel locomotive restoration ever done.  Spend some time and go through the topics of the attached link.  It's amazing of the work that was done by Howard and his team to bring about the restoration of this locomotive.
