How did the Union Pacific reverse direction on their pool train at Union Station?? Thanks for any info....

How did the Union Pacific reverse > direction on their pool train at Union Station?? In the early days, a switch engine must have dragged the train back to Argo and wyed them. (The Train of Tomorrow equipment set had a round-end dome observation car.) By the late 1960s, UP just ran the power around the train and pulled the train backwards to Portland. In 1969 the consist of the City of Portland without sleepers went through to Seattle and back as #s 457 and 458. After unloading #458 at Portland, they ran the train around the PTR baloon track and added the sleepers for the next aftrnoon's departure of #106. Best regards, Rob L.
