Single cab units on a road train is somewhat unusual. A single Baldwin cab unit pulling an empty hopper train is very unusual.

Another Samsel Classic ! I like those box cars at the freight house.

Where and when was the photo taken?  I do not know the area so I'm not sure if it is indeed Bethlehem or if the photographer is from Bethlehem.

The train is westbound passing the CNJ Bethlehem passenger station. The Lehigh Valley was on the other (south) side of the Lehigh River.  After the CNJ pulled out of Pennsylvania in 1972 the tracks were pulled up roughly halfway to that bridge in the distance all the way east to Easton.  The Baldwins lingered on until the 1972 pull out after which the CNJ dumped all their oddball power.  The Baldwins lasted longer than the F3's since the F's were of greater trade-in value on the SD35's purchased in 1965.

Last Baldwin cab unit on CNJ was in 1967.

Roundhouse foreman must have been a religious person. Took a lot of faith to send that unit out single handed at that late date. Great photo!
