A Film Star and a Warbonnet
Author: GRNDMND

M&ET GE 70-ton loco #602 rests with SFe F7A 308 outside the shops at Barstow, CA in May 1969. Most likely in for wheel work, the 602 and sister 70-tonner #600 along with the railroad, were featured through-out the 1955 B-flick, Night Freight, starring Forrest Tucker. Thanks for looking back at the "mighty M&ET"!

KC - also remembering 94.7,a little bit of heaven, KMET aka the "mighty MET"

Did the M&ET have an established arrangement with Santa Fe for major maintenance? Seems like a long haul to Barstow for work
that could have been done closer to home.

Quiite possible Charlie. I don't know the details, but wheel work on SFe was done at Barstow.
