The yellow poles are for the high-speed hand up of messages and or train orders. The train order signal is displaying orders for an eastbound.
The poles were inserted into the concrete blocks There was a spot light on top of the pole that connected to a electrical box for night illumination. From the picture, it looks to be a summer afternoon with the front door ajar and windows open. If I remember correctly they tore the depot down and built the Hanna crew dorm on that site. The dorm might have been a little east of the depot. The dorm was built around 1978.

Laramie wasn’t too bad we were doing 40 mph,but Hanna was scary. We were doing 60 mph. If you missed the center of the hoop, and hit one of the arms of the hoop it didn’t feel good!
