One of ten built for the Reading lines, this Conrail N-20 22137 looks like it can see some service.

Conrail N-5G 18612 was built for the Lehigh Valley.
This particular caboose was bought by the Penn Central along with a bunch of others in this class.
They were all delivered to Conrail in April of 1976.

Good selection. The forward and back windows on the bay windows surprised me. I never paid attention to the shape before.

I forget ... did CR get all the RDG extended vision cabooses, or did some go to D&H?

And a merger of two railroads with very different personalities would produce vastly different styles of cabooses.

The 21300 is an N-21 Conrail built caboose from a New York Central design in 1978.

Along side is N-5C 23112 built for the Pennsylvania Railroad. They had that semi sreamlined cupola and pairs of porthole windows.

There were two classes built by Internationa Car Co for Reading
Class NEa #94100 - 94109 built 1970  All went to Conrail
Class NEb #94110 - 94119 built 1971  All went to D&H

Some of each still survive

Joe is spot on regarding the ten that went to the D&H.
RDG 94116 became D&H 35797 (class NE6). It's now owned by the Reading Company T&H Society.

These are just great, overniteman. I'm kicking myself for not having bothered to photograph more of them myself.

CR definitely ended up with a wide assortment of cabooses.   Has anyone attempted to count up the many different varieties to include transfer cabooses?
