Keep the Clackamas photos coming.   That was my old stomping grounds in the 1980's.   Back then they left a SD9 normally at all times in the Clackamas spur.

The drill track and industrial park are now operated by the Clackamas Valley Railway; a division of Progresive Rail; using a former SSW SW-1500 and the train crew consisting of ex-UP folks.

Is there much business out the Mount Hood Main anymore? I worked the Oregon City Switcher about 25 years ago when I got augmented to Brooklyn and even back there there wasn't much business.

Once Fred Meyer and Safeway went to trucks the end for the OC switcher was pretty much in sight. Rumors were that the OPR was going to add the Clackamas Industrial Park to our operations but I assured Cowboy Harris and his cronies that would never happen until they retired. With only a small amount of traffic from the feed mill, sand outfit and the trucking outfit the outlook wasn't great.

With closing the paper mill at Oregon City and the lease to Clackamas Valley Railway UP was able to abolish the LIL 75 OC Switcher and substiture a reincarnation of the "Valley Local" between Albina and Eugene known as the LAE 51/52 which allowed them the eliinate the MEUPD/MPDEU which looked better to the beancounters.

I wish the new operator well!

Thank you, Dick, for your response. I feared that area was rather devoid of traffic. I, too, hope the new operator can make a go of it.
