Looks like the trucks on that UP Boxcar. Is designed for higher speeds?
Maybe it was used for steam excursions?

Yes, it was designed to be a storage mail car for the UP. That's why it's roof is lower then "normal" to match the passenger cars.

The 200 is among several SW-1's at the former Harvest States grain elevator in Superior, Wisconsin now painted white/blue. Not friendly to photographers!!! Was there last month!!

When did the 200 leave Oregon?  I'm thinking it may have been about the time of this photograph as it appears to be in UP's Albina yard.   Of course it may have just been there to get some engine work.  If memory serves, it went first to an operation in eastern Washington before heading back east.

UP sold both the 100 and 200 to an outfit called Fantasia Trains who advwrtised them for sale (I remember ads in Trains) around 1985 and SP began furnishing  a SP SW-1500 which was delivered at night for the once-a week trip to Boring. Didnt take long for the 56lb rail to begin telling the 1500's they weren't welcome and to go back home. The 1500's lasted until about 1988 when we leased the 100 back to PTC until we took over operations on Aplil 1, 1991. Abandonment of the Boring line in 1988 meant the 100 would stay at the PTC yard in East Portland to switch the remaining customers in the Milwaukie Industrial Park until sale to us and GE 70-tonner 5100 (ex-SP 5100) would be used to pull the scrap train as the line got shorter by the week.

I concur that the pic of the 200 is at Albina in it's last days as someone has already removed the bell and I don't recall if it went to eastern washington or not. The 100 was purchased by WATCO and went to the mill at Wallula Washington for a short period until it proved unsatisfactory and was sold to Samuels Steel Products which was a subsidiary company of the current Oregon Pacific Railroad)
