It was 40 years ago today that the WAG Wellsville Addison & Galeton made their last run. All three locomotives here on the last train still survive with the F units having an interesting future ahead. The GE Centercab 1700 now rest at the Lake Shore Railway Museum in Northeast, PA. The train ready to depart Galeton for the last time.

Don,

thanks again for sharing your WAG material, fortunately you and others like Dave Augsberger were able to get out and record this for the ages and share it.
I am thankful I was able to photograph the ex NYC Corning Secondary from Corning to Jersey Shore many times from 1981 to 1988 before it was abandonded.
the weather today and the weather in PA 40 years  ago today look similar.

Yes Mark the Sky Gods did cry that day.

Forlorn appearance of the photo scene captures the somber mood of the occasion.
While the WAG was abandoned, their F7A units can be found today at the Galveston Railroad Museum as AT&SF #315 & #316 pulling excursion trains.

Too bad at least one of them wasn't preserved in it's original SP paint scheme.  There are only 5 ex-SP F's left in existance and none of them are in SP paint.
