Family Lines Friday in Chicago
Author: ghemr

For railfans in Chicago there was always a variety mixed into the consists of the Family Lines System (combinned SCL/L&N) trains. Here's a few I caught.......

1. SCL 7087 Chicago, IL 8-8-82

2. L&N 4093 Chicago, IL sometime in 1982

3. Damn BRC train got in the way----sorry!

 4. L&N 8142 Chicago, IL 11-27-82

5. The caboose on this train---too faded and dirty to figure out the number

That's okay! But you let the caboose in #5 block the ARMH and SOO cars on the other track :^)

Nice series of the way it used to be.

All are in Chicago---the first at Hayford Jct. and the other four at the east end of Rockwell Yard.

Great to see power in that Family Lines paint scheme again.  I had almost forgotten about it.
There is one power pole in most of the photos that I definitely would not climb.

I was going to say that looked like the L&N leaving Clearing.  I saw alot of Family LInes when I worked 75th St.  Great shots of how cool ChicagoLand was back then.
