Nostalgia & History > recent visit to Promontory PointDate: 11/15/19 17:57 recent visit to Promontory Point Author: bakersfielddave In October i drove up to Promontory to see the Golden Spike Monument and drove out some miles futher on the old 1869 grade and back there were still some tie plates and what appeared to be original spikes laying around on the western end of the old grade

Much looks the same, except the huge debris pile in photo 8. Really enjoyed taking a lot of time there back then, and your photos have me thinking about a return trip. No rides given, the locos only do re-enactments of the driving of the Golden Spike. It wouldn't be much of a ride, tracks to nowhere! that sure is one desolate place, thanks for the pix! Go |
