Pennsy's orange cabin cars
Author: LV95032

There were still a few PRR orange cabin cars still floating around when I arrived in Huntingdon, Pa to attend college.

Nice to see the cabin cars (a PRR term) as well as the power.

Did the orange signify a certain type of service or was that the standard color at one time?  BSB

Focal orange was a color they changed to at one time.

Man, those old Pennsy cabooses soldiered on quite a few years! A PC railroader (former NYC Railroader) told me they didn't like these cars as the steps were narrower than the NYC cars.

Nice photos. Those PRR Cabins were sturdy looking equipment.

Most of those tracks in the first photo seemed full of equipment destined for the scrap yard or Hollidaysburg by the time I paid my first visit to Huntingdon several years later. My visits were mostly on weekends but I don't recall a local serving the place - must have taken place on the weekdays.
