Note the ex-ACL tavern obs car on the rear, with a string of Budd coaches ahead. This isn't the typical consist of your average SFZ of the era.

SP units were common as far east as North Platte in the 70's and early 80's. I can be corrected on this. Metcalf was a Pullman-Standard product while the pictured car is a Budd Company model. Car number on the rear door is AMTK 3334(?). Note the brakeman in the first picture on his way back to the lead unit after re-starting at least one of the trailing units that have died in the tunnel from taking in the hot exhaust of the units in front of it.
