UP GP15s

I haven't seen one of these in quite a while. Are they all in storage or off the roster?

There are a few in Los Angeles. I get to run one almost daily on my yard job. Some are original GP15-1's, others are GP15N's. The N's have a ZTR control system and one feature is "Switcher Mode." This enables fast loading for snappy pins and stretches. Would be great for kicking cars too.
The GP15's are lighter in weight and Run 3 usually causes wheel slip at over 900 amps, until you are moving. Then the other unit I'm MU'ed to (38, 40, or 60) kicks in with the sustained power while the 15's amps drop off.
I like the little beasts, they and the GP38's sound as close to a GP9 as I remember.

The line of GP15's, also extended the entire length behind the row of 6 axle units from these pics along the road. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4912140

There are a couple assigned to the Cedar Rapids area for local switching and you'll see them elsewhere in Iowa.  They have returned several recently.
And, of course, all are now "UPY" units.

The UP still rosters 185 of the GP15-1/GP15N units. About 100 are in service with the rest stored.

In years past I have caught them at Dolton Il, working in and out of Yard Center.  I haven't been up there for a couple of years, so I don't know if they are still holding assignments there or not.
